100% Cloud Coverage
A Google Slides Experiment
An example of my own project-based-learning, 100% Cloud Coverage is a show & tell experiment and my first attempt at using Google Slides to create a presentation. Designed mainly for younger students as an introduction to weather-related units and to encourage a little enthusiasm for one of my favorite pastimes, cloud-watching for local weather predicting, 100% Cloud Coverage also provided a constructive, creative use for my virtual mountain of cloud photos. Even lesser-quality photos from my old cellphone proved useful for background illustrations of slide content.
For project-based-learning, my own example can be copied, shared and used like a template for students who want to learn Google Slides. Students can be challenged to create their own presentations or make their own forecasts, depending on their level of understanding. An activity great for journaling, students can draw cloud shapes, graph the percentage of clear sky, take their own photographs for cloud identification and connect with public resources for all kinds of weather. Let students thunder! Make weather journals a PBL experience!
